Head-to-head for a semifinal spot: the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina quarterfinal matchups

Independiente del Valle
  • Corinthians, who won all three of their group matches and are unbeaten in 21 games in the competition, will face Independiente del Valle, while Palmeiras will take on Independiente Santa Fe.

  • Cruzeiro, who topped their group with a perfect record, will meet Libertad, while Deportivo Cali, runners-up in the last edition, will look to advance against Olimpia.

The CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina 2026 semifinalists will be decided this weekend. Following the Group Stage, eight teams from four countries remain in contention for ‘Eternal Glory’: Brazil has three representatives, Colombia and Paraguay have two each, and Ecuador has Independiente del Valle, the only team from the host nation still in the competition.

The Quarterfinals will be played as single-leg ties on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October at Estadio Banco Guayaquil. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the winners will be decided by a penalty shootout. The winning teams will advance to the Semifinals on Wednesday 28 October, the final step before the Final on Saturday 31 October.

Palmeiras vs. Independiente Santa Fe

Palmeiras finished top of Group B, unbeaten with seven points. They drew 1-1 with Independiente del Valle in their final group match: despite playing the entire second half with ten players following Gláucia’s dismissal, they took the lead through a Bia Zaneratto penalty before conceding a late equaliser. They will now look to carry that consistency into a stage where every detail could determine who advances.

Independiente Santa Fe head into the match following a 5-1 defeat to Corinthians. Kelly Ibargüen opened the scoring, but the Brazilian side turned the game around. The Colombian team will need to bounce back from that setback as they prepare to face the other São Paulo representative in this half of the draw.

Corinthians vs. Independiente del Valle

Corinthians’ recent record underlines the scale of the challenge facing their opponents. The winners of the last three editions are unbeaten in 21 CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina matches, with 16 wins and five draws. They won all three of their group games in Ecuador: 2-0 against Colo-Colo, 7-0 against Caracas and 5-1 against Independiente Santa Fe. They are chasing a seventh continental crown, which would be their fourth in a row.

Independiente del Valle advanced as Group B runners-up with five points. The ‘Dragonas’ concluded the group stage with a draw against Palmeiras, thanks to a goal from Evelyn Burgos. Their recent meeting with Corinthians offers encouragement for the hosts: the sides drew 1-1 in the 2025 edition.

Deportivo Cali vs. Olimpia

Deportivo Cali are looking to repeat the run that took them to the 2025 Final. The ‘Azucareras’ finished top of Group D unbeaten: they drew 1-1 with Libertad, defeated Nacional 2-0 and secured qualification with a 3-2 victory over Universidad de Chile. Their seven points sealed first place, sending them into the knockout stage on the back of two consecutive wins.

Olimpia advanced as Group C runners-up despite losing 3-0 to Cruzeiro in their final group match. The Paraguayan side will face the reigning continental runners-up and look to bounce back from that defeat to take another step forward in Ecuador. The tie guarantees a Colombian or Paraguayan representative in the final four.

Cruzeiro vs. Libertad

Cruzeiro have made an impressive start to their first CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina campaign. They won all three of their Group C matches, concluding the opening stage with a 3-0 victory over Olimpia courtesy of goals from Giselli, Marília and Rafa Levis. The Belo Horizonte side now head into their first continental knockout tie with the confidence gained from a perfect group-stage record.

Libertad also head into the match unbeaten. They finished second in Group D with five points, securing qualification with a 2-2 draw against Nacional. Liz Peña and Naomi de León put the Paraguayan side ahead, and they held on to their place in the knockout stage despite the Uruguayan team’s comeback. Against Cruzeiro, they will look to stop one of the strongest performers in the group stage.
