Breno Bidon and a truly defining night

Breno Bidon celebra el gol de Corinthians
  • Breno Bidon scored his first international goal for Corinthians in the 1-0 victory over Rosario Central.

  • The hero who sent Timão through to the CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals enjoyed a defining night with the side dreaming of lifting their second Glória Eterna.

At just 21 years of age, and with more than 140 appearances for Corinthians, Bidon is one of the faces of a talent-rich academy that the São Paulo club can call upon. The midfielder was a standout performer in the 2025 Copa do Brasil final and, in his second CONMEBOL Libertadores campaign, he is aiming to go all the way with the club that nurtured him from the earliest stages of his career.

Versatility and talent are Breno Bidon's trademarks. Primarily an attacking midfielder, he can also operate as a central midfielder, attack spaces, support the forward line, combine with his team-mates and, when required, lead the press from the front.

He plays and makes those around him play. His technical ability also thrives alongside the quality of the players around him. His partnership with Corinthians captain Rodrigo Garro proved crucial in the victory over Rosario Central, in a match in which the Brazilian side played with ten men for almost the entire second half following Raniele's dismissal.

Fernando Diniz's arrival in the Timão dugout has brought the best out of the young São Paulo-born midfielder. "Since he arrived, Diniz has helped me a lot to keep improving my football. He has helped me not only on the pitch but also off it, because he talks to me a lot and asks me what I think about the matches," Bidon admits.

He started seven of Corinthians' eight matches in the current CONMEBOL Libertadores. His magical night arrived in the Round of 16 second leg against the Canalla. With ten minutes remaining before the tie would have gone to a penalty shoot-out, he met a precise cross from Memphis Depay to make it 1-0 and score his first international goal for Corinthians.

He made his senior debut on 10 March 2024. That same season, he reached the CONMEBOL Sudamericana semi-finals, where Corinthians were eliminated by Racing Club, who went on to win the competition. Talent and fearlessness, channelled into the quality of a young player who is unfazed by any stage.

Among a squad filled with established names, Bidon has earned the opportunity to become one of the attacking leaders of the 2012 Glória Eterna champions. The most coveted trophy in South American club football is five matches away, but first Timão must overcome a formidable opponent and four-time champions of the continent: Estudiantes de La Plata.
