Coquimbo Unido have remained committed to a clear idea and have competed in three South American tournaments over the past six years. Their only previous CONMEBOL Libertadores appearance came in 1992, when they were eliminated in the group stage.
Platense, the Argentine side that finished runner-up to Corinthians in Group E, will be the next obstacle Coquimbo Unido must overcome if they are to continue along a winning path that has so far given the entire 'Pirate' faithful reason to dream.

The coach took over from Esteban González, who decided to continue his career in Mexican football after leading Coquimbo Unido to the Chilean league title.
